Full-Time Stereo Lensing Artist

Job Description
This is a great opportunity be involved with a stereo feature animation production. It is a small dynamic team that has ownership of their work through the pipeline and works closely with the creative leads. Similar to the traditional layout artist role, a Stereo Lensing Artist works within a scene based framework and in close co-ordination with directorial and story units to “stereofy” shots and enhance the story.
Job Responsibilities:
- Taking an existing lensing scene and “stereofying” the shots (selecting convergence and interaxial) to enhance the story.
- Refining the stereo for each scene as it continues down the pipeline through animation, lighting, and compositing.
- Technical management of scenes for downstream production departments.
This role reports to:
- Primary Reporting – Stereo Supervisor
- Creative – Directors Unit and Editorial
- Operational – Stereo Production Supervisor
Personal Attributes and Experience REQUIRED
- An understanding and appreciation for stereo techniques and aesthetics
- A creative understanding of the animation filmmaking processes.
- Experience in lensing and/or layout on animated films, preferably involving stereo
- Strong visual storytelling skills.
- Knowledge of camera composition and good sense of aesthetics
- Willingness to workshop creative and relevant ideas and solutions for presentation to directors.
- Good problem solving skills, with high attention to detail and organization
- Proficient with Maya animation toolset.
- 3 years related experience
- A relevant Bachelors degree
Desirable Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience with Linux operating system
- An understanding of and/or experience with cinematography/photography
